![]() ![]() Now it's just a hero, and they level so painfully slow, that you have gone through the heros gameplay loop a 100 times in one mission, and the loops aren't that interesting. My biggest gripe, however, is that they ditched the hero - class system from 2nd Edition, which I really loved. I was excited about the 3d terrain when I first assembled it, but in the end it's just a pain to construct the missions without it really adding anything to the gameplay. You can just wander around, do everything and kill the few pitiful enemies that cross your path without any tactics. I was really looking forward to Legends of the Dark, but unfortunately it just doesn't compare to the second edition, and it's not even close: the gameplay is much less tactical and there's no tension in the missions at all. I have an almost complete collection of Descent 2nd Edition, and I've played it over 500 hours. What are y'alls thoughts? Or if you have some information, what's out there? This leads me to believe that Asmodee is kind of a holding pattern while the Embracer sale shakes out. My read of Gen Con is that Asmodee didn't have much of a presence for any of their brands. I realize that Asmodee is in a transition phase with the Embracer group officially taking over, but I'm not sure how that trickles down to FFG. No Pun Included loved the shit out of it, just as examples of reviews. I know SUSD didn't enjoy and Tom Vasel seemed to like it okay. ![]() My friend bought it and we've played about half the campaign in the last year or so. I can't tell how well Descent 3.0 has done for FFG. Now, if we compare Descent 3.0 to the LOTR games, Ghosts should have been out by now plus at least 1 or 2 other expansions. Last October? November? there was the announcement of a sidequest expansion for Legends of the Dark that is supposed to be called Ghosts of Greyhaven. My curiosity is in that I'm not sure what's new that FFG is putting out for Descent. I am writing this to see if anyone has any insight onto the future of the Descent games.
